Friday Night

The weather proved to be a challenge for the fans and the drivers had their own issues to deal with once the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam brought to you by Ford Trucks began at the Lake Erie Speedway. Introductions sent the Grave Digger crew scrambling as rear steering problems were recognized by driver Randy Brown as it slid to a stop during introductions and the Rap Attack team found some transmission issues that were quickly cleared up in the pits. Even though problems plagued the black and green machine early, Brown piloted the beast to impressive finishes during the night taking wins in all competitions in which it competed.

Grave Digger sat out the Monster Jam Wheelie competition remedying the rear steering issue while Rap Attack set the bar at 12. Bad Habit took over the lead with a 17 grabbing some huge air and returning to the pits unscathed. His mark wouldn’t be beat gaining some momentum for Monster Jam racing.

Monster Jam Racing was under way without a hitch as Bad Habit took an easy first round win and Bad News Travels Fast powered through first to the finish line. Grave Digger finally made it to the track for his bye run and the truck was back in tip top shape for competition and owned its semi-final race against Instigator. A tough race followed with Bad Habit matched against Bad News Travels Fast and the veteran Haney took his machine to the finals to face Grave Digger. Tension mounted as the trucks staged and grew even more as the race progressed. The trucks were even as they headed down the straight stretch for the final jump that ended in a finish almost too close to call. Grave Digger took the win and a shocked Brown greeted the fans and shook hands with a Haney who came from the pits to congratulate him on the win.

Always impressive, the Monster Jam Donut competition got under way with a cloud of smoke as the 66 inch tires grabbed the asphalt and spin the trucks in crazy whirls. The donuts kept getting faster and longer, but Grave Digger topped them all with a whirling cyclone that brought the fans to their feet as the domination continued.

Freestyle competition was under way with big air and quick hits as Bad News Travels Fast hit the track. But his run ended short as he launched up on the van stack and landed square with the van right in the middle of the truck. Haney gave it his all to get the truck dislodged but mechanical problems plagued the veteran and the wheels ended up locked and the truck was stuck. Bad Habit would hit the track next with a slow leak in the left front tire. With a great run under way, the tire gave out and the truck landed flat on its rim ending the run early. The carnage had captured two trucks but wouldn’t be able to grasp Grave Digger as the truck thundered out of the pits and destroyed all that was left of the track with fast jumps and whirling donuts. The crowd was on their feet as the truck skidded to a stop and ended an amazing run.

Saturday Night

Perfect skies graced the Lake Erie Speedway as Randy Brown piloted the black and green wrecking machine known as Grave Digger to a clean sweep of the events at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam brought to you by Ford Trucks.

Grave Digger had some challenges along the way as Bad Habit was a tough competitor in the Monster Jam Wheelie Competition. Racing proved challenging as well with Grave Digger having to face Instigator in the semis. Bad News Travels Fast worked his way up through the brackets beating Instigator and Bad Habit to create rematch of the previous night’s final race. With both trucks staged, it was a toss up of who would take the win. It came down to the final turn with both trucks to the stacks even. Grave Digger gave it a bit more throttle to power the truck to a solid win in the first half of the show.

The Monster Jam Donut Competition was so close as Instigator set the bar high with amazing spins scoring a 22. Bad News Travels Fast topped his run by scoring a 23. It was all up to Grave Digger to top Haney and Brown sent the truck whirling sideways into a tight spin that seemed to last forever scoring a 25.

The crowd was amped for Monster Jam Freestyle and so were the superstars of Monster Jam as amazing performances were displayed on the asphalt track. Bad Habit hit the car stacks hard, soaring the truck through the air and quickly hit more cars using the rear steer to maneuver the track. That truck would hold the lead until Grave Digger hit the track sailing around the track like greased lightening igniting applause from the fans and bringing them to their feet. Brown even poured on a little extra action for the fans extending the freestyle run for at least 90 seconds before ending the run with a crazy donut in front of the fans.

It was a spectacular end to an amazing weekend!
