Friday Night

For the first time in the seven years we have been coming to Toledo rain got the best of the event. The storms rolled in when the Finals for the UTI racing championship were about to start. From there it never let up! Storm after storm rolled through but for a brief moment the remaining fans got a taste of freestyle almost one hour after we first stopped for lightning.

The first competition of the night was wheelies and the rookie David Brown driving Excaliber took the win with a score of 23. David is not a rookie when it comes to driving Monster Trucks only a rookie to the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam and he was impressive. Destroyer was second with a 22 followed by Grave Digger with a score of 20. Bad Habit and Shock Therapy tied with scores of 18 and Bad Habit rounded out the strong field with a 16.

Fastest Qualifier went to Shock Therapy followed by Rap Attack who missed it by 6 tenths of a second. The race was fast through round one and the semi finals but was even wilder in the finals as the track became wet and slippery. The same held true for freestyle as the trucks were able to spin awesome doughnuts but not get big air due to the wet conditions. Only four out of the six trucks freestyled due to the weather but those four freestyles were awesome. Here are the rest of the results.

Round one racing: Rap Attack defeated Bad Habit, Destroyer defeated Excaliber, Grave Digger defeated Shock Therapy.

Semi Finals: Grave Digger defeated Destroyer, Shock Therapy(fast loser)defeated Rap Attack.

Freestyle Score
Grave Digger 22
Shock Therapy 20
Destroyer 16
Excaliber 15
Rap Attack DNF
Bad Habit DNF

More rain and storms are in the forecast for tomorrow night, though hopefully not during the show. A big Thank You to the great fans of Toledo for being patient with Mother nature and the Toledo Speed way for all that happened tonight!

Saturday Night

An awesome night was had by all here at the Toledo Speedway. No rain, no storms, no problems! The night started off again with an awesome display of wheelies as Dave Rappach in Rap Attack took home the trophy with a top score of 25. Excaliber almost swept the contest but came up second with a 24 followed closely by Destroyer with a 23. The next three trucks were one point off from each other as Shock Therapy scored a 20, Bad Habit 19 and Grave Digger 18.

Fastest Qualifier was a shock to most tonight except to me as Dan Evans was on fire taking the fastest time of the weekend with a 21.30 second run. He wouldn't stop there as Destroyer took out the field to win the UTI Racing Championship over Grave Digger. Destroyer made it to the finals with wins over Rap Attack in round one and Excaliber in the semi Finals. Grave Digger made his way to the finals with wins over Shock Therapy twice as Shock Therapy was the fast loser of the night. Excaliber also had a first round win over Bad Habit.

Freestyle was awesome as Grave Digger wowed the crowd with almost a four minute freestyle that seemed to go on forever and scored a 24. Shock Therapy had the move of the night when he hit the van stack and wheelied over it tail dragging the van with him through the air. Trust me, you had to be here as he scored a 23. Bad Habit was third with a 20 followed by Excaliber with a 19 and Rap Attack with a 16. Destroyer was unable to freestyle after he suffered major damage in the racing finals.

This was again a truly great night for the fans of Toledo as we had three different winners giving the fans their best. See you down the road.
